My blog has been a bit quiet lately. It is a lot of work, we've been mostly staying put, and I did have a rather upsetting run of bad luck for a bit.
Some criminals attempted to scam me out of a lot of money. They were posing as FBI agents who said I was involved in a money laundering crime. Supposedly my identity had been stolen and bank accounts were opened in my name and used to launder stolen funds. I was under investigation and trying to prove my innocense.
It's a long story and I really dont want to go thru it again, here, but they are really sophisticated and had me going for about 3 weeks. Beware the bad guys. They are good at what they do. They almost had me.
Now onto better things....
Summers heat has been making its appearance sooner than normal and that means we are overdue for getting out to Dodge.
Our plan was to head north to the Yukon this year but some last minute changes has shaved a bit off of that itinerary. Now we will head up to Banff in Canada to visit with friends. About a month in Canada then we'll drop back south into Montana, then after the 4th we'll head over to the Oregon Coast where we'll stay cool. This trip will be different from our usual routine in that we will be mostly in parks with Full hookups. I guess it will be a "glamping" summer.
On Thursday April 23rd we said adios to our backyard sunsets and headed up to Cottonwood, Az for 2 nights.
While there we stopped at Randalls Restaurant for breakfast. We'd had breakfast here years ago with friends and it was really great. They have this Chicken Fried Steak covered in Verde Sauce that is out of this world. The batter is really light and not overpowering.
I had to try it to see if it was as good as I remembered.... it was!
When you leave the Verde Valley you instantly climb about 4,000' on to the Mogollon Rim - the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau. The scenery changes from high desert to pine forest and lakes.
We travel north on I-17 for about 50 miles thru the forests to Flagstaff.
Here, we skirt along the western edge of the Painted Desert. The rocks contain a variety of colors.
One last climb over a small pass...
And we drop down into Page, Az. Soon we are at our new home for the next week. The Wahweep Campground on Lake Powell.
We have a FHU site with 50amp and a great desert view of the lake.
We've been here perhaps a half dozen times and always enjoy our stay. We've really noticed how much the lake has dropped over the years.
The 2 photos below are current, and 2011

The two photos below are the same years, Current and 2011. Same view. You can see the peak in the distance to give you perspective.
Well.... we'll be here for a week and then up to a state park on a lake just outside of Sundance Utah.
See you there.
