Another 530 miles westbound finds us in a rather unique place here in
West Texas.
I haven't had time to research the how or why of where we are but for the
flat scrubland of this part of Texas this seems out of place.
The view from the coach window
It seems more like Cape Lookout (minus the Ocean of course)
We are parked in a pull-thru space...
Easy in - Easy out.
We arrived around 3:30 today after another early morning departure.
This morning we left in the rain, then the skies cleared and we fought
a 25 mph headwind for several hundred miles.
Combined with our 70mph speed the truck felt 95mph of air resistance and
our fuel consumption today showed it.
After arriving we took the Doods for a nice long walk.
The temps here are mid 60's with a brisk but dying breeze.
Tonight we'll have some Beef Stew and perhaps watch an episode or two of
Northern Exposure.
Sunset from the top of one of the dunes.
Tomorrow we have a short 5 1/2 hr drive to our next port of call in New Mexico
where we will stay for 3 days.
I'm sure that Kate will appreciate me letting her sleep in tomorrow past 0500.
ZZZZzzzzzz ZZZZZZzzzzz
Yes, there are some vast sand dunes in this part of the world. Glad you are feeling at home!
ReplyDeleteI have a few pictures of Lesley on Skis taken at White Sands National Monument. The dunes are so white and barren that they look just like snow.
ReplyDeleteWe are just finishing the last 3 episodes of the last Season of 24 and have also been watching a very good BBC Series - Foleys War.
